General Counsel, Licensed Property Manager
Tara is a 4th generation Oregonian, born and raised in Portland. She has lived in different parts of Oregon all her life. After graduating from Jesuit High School, Tara went on to University of Oregon Robert D. Clark Honors College, where she graduated magna cum laude. Tara then attended Willamette University College of Law, where she graduated with honors, and, more importantly, met her husband and future business partner, Matt.

After graduating from law school, Tara practiced as a civil defense litigation attorney for ten years in downtown Portland.
Tara and Matt grew and managed their own real estate portfolio for years before deciding to start Breakwater Northwest. Now, in addition to managing their own single and multi-family investments, they manage for a diverse group of owners, from high net worth individuals with large portfolios to single family owners who have just started to develop their investment portfolio.

Tara's legal background is instrumental to helping our owners navigate the complexities of property ownership and management. Tara has also served as an adjunct professor at University of Portland, where she taught courses in International Children's Rights and U.S. Law and Courts.

Tara enjoys spending time with her family, running, and reading Charles Dickens novels.
